Guess the day

In one small town, there is a liar who lies on six days of the week. But on the seventh day he always tells the truth. He made the following statements on three successive days:
Day 1: 'I lie on Monday and Tuesday.'
Day 2: 'Today, it's Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday.'
Day 3: 'I lie on Wednesday and Friday.'
What day does the guy tell the truth?

  2. Ans: Tuesday

    Explanation:
both statements 1 and 3 cannot be false(because if 1 is false, then he speaks truth on either monday or tuesday and if 2 is false also, then he speaks truth on wednesday or friday but he speaks truth on 1 day only). so, statement 2 is false and we have 2 conditions left:
    1) statement 1 is true and 3 is false. It means Day 1 has to be wednesday or friday(because statement 3 is false). so, day 2 is either thursday or saturday. But as statement 2 is false, so this is not possible.

2)statement 1 is false and statement 3 is true. It means day 3 has to be monday or tuesday(because 1 is false). But if it is monday, the previous day becomes sunday, which is not possible. so , it must be Tuesday.
